Road Tax Rises
Outragous Tax rises on the Kings Road in Yew
I read a public notification from Stone Keep Yew that the Kings Road
tax has been raised! The road from Skara Brae & Britain Crossroads
to Yew has outragous taxes which you have to pay to use or face certain
confinement, claimed a traveller on his way to Britain. It was raised
with twenty gold pieces which makes it a total of fifty gold pieces you
have to pay to use the roads. In the notification Klion D'Gar claims
it's for security reasons but how do you know the guards don't spend it
on their ale drinking?? Certainly most farmers around Yew can't live up
to this tax increase and will have to use the dangerous woods to travel
around.
Quaintly back in Business
Whilst d'Orsay gets incarcerated
We at the Poste aren't sure how she does it, but somehow, millionaire
heiress has managed to get herself off the wanted posters and back into
her Trinsic businesses, legally. Whatever 'misunderstanding' of the
facts of the charges laid against her seem to have been swiftly
resolved as yesterday evening she arrived into the City clad from head
to toe in snowy ice-white clothes...probably the most expensive
White-Flag ever shown. After an interview with Duke Irvyn, she left the
jail looking hugely relieved and cheerful, and apparently got right
back to business at her Gem Shop, the Trinsic Pearl. But whereas things
are coming up roses for Quaintly, the same can hardly be said for Venom
d'Orsay - who in a surprising move surrendered himself to the Duchy
late last evening and it is believed that he shall be kept behind bars
and away from sticks for 6 months.

Rumours
Apparently, Venom d'Orsay's rather large fine has been paid in full.
The interesting thing is that, allegedly, it wasn't paid by him!
Wouldn't it be nice for us all to have wealthy benefactors like that,
readers? Seems like the Duke is up to his neck in trouble on all sides
with stroppy womenfolk. Rumour has it that the Baroness Moiraine was
less than delighted about the outcome regarding the release of Lady
Quaintly and spent a good deal of her evening drowning her sorrows down
in the Keg and Anchor. Ex-Duchess Caroline was heard screeching
imperiously around the jail, demanding an immediate audience with his
grace, following the release of the leggy heiress - another domestic
perhaps, or has she simply got her bustle in a bunch over the shade of
Quaintly's newest sandals?

Letters to the Editor
Dear Poste,
After my letter praising you on accurate news towards Vesper it seems
you have gone the other way. I am thoroughly disappointed and your
neglect, but looking at your past publications, not wholly surprised.
Referring to the night when Trinsic and Cove came looking to fights. It
is true that the Trinsicians came looking for an escaped prisoner but
they knew they would not get him and came in sufficient force as to
suggest they were looking to cause trouble. Needless to say their
smaller frames couldn't stand upto the larger Northerners and they were
soon dispatched.
Upon dealing with the Trinsicians we settled down to an ale in the
Swaggers Inn, when I went to leave I walked straight into the mob of
Covians giving one of the Militiamen trouble, I ran back and got a few
men to aid men and the Covians were dispatched more swiftly than the
Trinsicians.
If you have news on Vesper try confirming it with a Vesperian or better
still, someone involved in the news, I hear pigeons are readily
available these days?
Yours sincerely,
Sir Kaelith Anar,
Knight of Vesper.
No, many news have been written up by our reporters using reliable
information. I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific on which
reporter you are referring to.
